Great headphones. To me the sound is great! I think it is better than my Beyer DT770 pro 250 ohm. I use these headphones with E1DA 9138D DAC and it pushes it fairly good. I used Windows volume 37 for DT770 and using 32-33 for these.
Sound is crystal clear, you can distinguish the instruments very good. I have to listen to a more high quality files, but given that these improved even the.ones of not great quality, I think it will be excellent.

Build quality is good yet not superb. Wood housing looks nice. 100% genuine.
The problem is its tremble is somewhat too bright to me, I have to use EQ to constraint it a little bit. This makes me recall my DT880Pro. Technical wise, I feel it’s on par with my Audeze EL-8 Close. Signature wise, not really. I believe Hifiman R9 is with a more attractive signature, while Edition XS (stealth) is more elegant and humble. Considering R9 was originally a higher priced product, and Edition XS is a cost performance monster, this makes sense. However, please do note that R9 is now in an ultra bargain sale, unbelievablely cheap for its quality. I have to say if you want a closed one, try R9 first.
Also, unlike R9 and Edition XS which internal package can be reused as headphone standard, Sundara Closed is not having this handy feature.

Its a great choice if you are stepping up from the usual mass market sound that many brands give, which emphazises both bass and treble with a recessed midrange.
